Tarrant County Health Confirms Positive West Nile Virus Sample

Two recent mosquito samples have tested positive for West Nile virus in unincorporated Tarrant County, health officials confirm.

The first sample was collected in an area near Yucca Flats Trail in the northwest portion of the county.

The second was collected in southeast Tarrant County in the area around Wilson Road and Shelby Road.

There have now been three positive West Nile virus samples collected in Tarrant County this season, following one in Richland Hills.

No human cases of West Nile virus have been reported in Tarrant County.

Health officials said they plan to spray on Friday, beginning at 9 p.m. and ending by 5 a.m., weather permitting.
