TRE Train Hits Pickup in Fort Worth

The Trinity Railway Express train was delayed Thursday afternoon when the train hit a pickup truck in Fort Worth.

The westbound train hit a maroon GMC pickup where Haltom Road intersects the TRE tracks just south of State Highway 121.

The bed of the pickup was heavily damaged and passengers on the train told an NBC 5 producer riding the train that they felt a jolt and saw a cloud of dust on impact.

A worker told NBC 5's producer the driver of the pickup was trying to beat the train, which was only three cars long.

The driver of the truck was transported to the hospital as a precaution, MedStar reported the driver only had minor injuries.

The accident happened between Richland Hills and he Intermodel Transportation Center.

A TRE spokeswoman says inspectors cleared the track for trains to resume running.
