TCU Student-Athlete Named Rhodes Scholar

One of 32 Americans to be accepted into the prestigious program

Texas Christian University confirmed late Saturday that student-athlete Caylin Moore will soon leave the plains of Texas for England. He is a 2017 Rhodes Scholar.

Late Saturday, TCU Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. issued the following statement

It is official; Caylin Moore is a 2017 Rhodes Scholar. He joins an elite group of TCU students with this recognition and a current class of 32 men and women across the United States who exemplify similar intellect, character, leadership and commitment to service. As a Rhodes Scholar, Caylin will have the opportunity to study at Oxford University next fall, where he will complete his graduate studies in Public Policy and Business Administration.

Caylin also was offered the Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship.

NBC DFW previously reported on Moore overcoming a tough childhood just outside of Los Angeles.

He attended Marist College in New York, playing football but also working as a janitor to pay for school.  He transferred to TCU to pursue a degree in Economics.

"I feel like all my life has been leading up to things like this," said Moore.

In addition to football, Moore runs a community outreach program that he started.
