Fort Worth police say 26-year-old Jonathan Johnson forced his way into a home on the 2800 block of Creekwood Lane just after 3:30 a.m.

Johnson, who used to be the boyfriend of the woman who lives in the home, made his way into the bedroom where he found the woman lying asleep with her new boyfriend, according to Captain Kevin Rodricks of the Fort Worth Police Department.

Johnson used a knife he had taken from the kitchen of the home and stabbed the sleeping man in his throat and his chest and then fled the scene, Rodricks told NBC 5.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he immediately went into emergency surgery.  His condition is not yet known.

Approximately one hour after the attack, the woman contacted Johnson and arranged a meeting at a nearby restaurant, Rodricks said.

When Johnson arrived, police officers took him into custody. He's charged with aggravated assault, a first degree felony.

There were children inside of the home at the time of the break-in and stabbing, according to police.  At least one of them may be the child of the suspect, Rodricks said.
