18-Year-Old Arrested in UNT Athlete's Slaying

Ryan Harrison, 18, has been arrested in connection with the death of UNT student-athlete Germaine Dawson

Lewisville police have arrested a suspect in the murder of University of North Texas football player and student Germaine Dawson.
 
At about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday in Dallas, officials took 18-year-old Ryan Trenard Harrison into custody and charged him in the shooting death of Dawson.
 
Dawson, 21, was reported missing Thursday. His body was later found inside a vehicle in front of a business on the 2400 block of the northbound service road along Interstate 35W.

Dawson's girlfriend learned he was planning to sell marijuana to someone in Dallas on Thursday night, according to court records.
 
According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner, Dawson died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
 
Dawson played for the Mean Green for four years as a defensive back and was on schedule to graduate from UNT this spring.
 
Harrison is being held on $250,000 bond.
