Loper Murder Trial a Year from Court Date

It could be at least a year before the man accused of murdering Frisco fitness instructor Susan Loper faces trial.

The first hearing for capital murder defendant Terrance Black was held in Collin County Monday morning.

Black is accused of killing Loper, his former girlfriend, and then dumping her body in a field off the Dallas North Tollway before fleeing Texas.

Black was arrested after officials said he tried to jump into the Grand Canyon.

Black did not appear in court Monday. His next hearing in Nov. 2, though it's not likely he'll appear then either as his defense and prosecutors work out a potential trial schedule.
