Storm Spotters Learn From December Tornadoes

Storm Spotters and weather experts from around the country trained in North Texas Saturday for the upcoming severe weather season.

The Texas Severe Storms Association held their National Storm Conference in Colleyville.

The focus of this year’s event was the devastating tornado outbreak in the area the day after Christmas; especially the EF4 that hit the Rowlett and Garland area.

Experts from the National Weather Service picked apart the storm for the crowd of 500 or so and discussed ways to better communicate during future events and better get warnings to the public.

Among those in the crowd were NBC 5 and Telemundo 39’s Weather Experts who said the event is important to brush up on skills and emphasize safety before the severe weather season.
