Stars Sign Mattias Janmark to 2-Year Deal

Mattias Janmark has been signed to a 2-year deal by the Dallas Stars, the team reports Friday.

In a news release, the Stars said the 22-year-old center from Stockholm, Sweden was second on Frolunda and tied for 17th in the Swedish Hockey League with 36 points in 55 regular season games and that he was the youngest player in the league's Top 20 points standings.

He led AIK of the SHL in goals and points and made his AHL debut in 2013-2014, skating in two games for Grand Rapids, the Stars said.

"Mattias has done a tremendous job of excelling in the Swedish Hockey League at a young age," said Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill. "He will spend the playoffs with Texas and we're excited to watch how he contributes to that team and develops as a player."

Janmark was originally selected by the Red Wings in the 2013 NHL Draft but was acquired by Dallas, along with Mattias Backman and a second round selection in 2015 in exchange for Erik Cole and a conditional third round selection.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, as per usual.
