Spieth's Caddie Unable to Finish Round Due to Heat

Spieth finished the third round at 4-under (tied for 8th)

The Texas heat can be brutal on the golf course this time of year. Just ask Jordan Spieth’s caddie, Michael Greller.

Greller was forced to leave due to heat exhaustion during the third round of the Dean & DeLuca Invitational in Fort Worth. Damon Goddard, Spieth’s physical trainer, took over as caddie. Goddard caddied for Spieth in the past during the first round of the 2014 Shell Houston Open when Greller was sick.

Spieth said Greller had told Goddard that he might not be able to caddie the entire round with the heat index soaring to 108 degrees.

“He [caddie Michael Greller] didn't tell me at all until we were walking down the 11th and he said, ‘Hey, this is my last hole.’ I was kind of surprised,” Spieth told the Golf Channel after the round.

Greller was treated by medical personnel at Colonial and Spieth said he expects him to be healthy enough to caddie on Sunday.

Spieth finished Saturday at 4-under; five shots back of the lead. Webb Simpson is the clubhouse leader at 9-under going into the final round.
