A Collin County grand jury has asked a judge to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the county's district attorney and members of his office for possible wrongdoing.
John Roach has been the county's district attorney since 2003. On Thursday, he issued a statement saying that he didn't know why the investigation was launched.
Roach said he has "never violated a public trust" and is confident that every person in his office has "acted honorably and within the bounds of the law."
Roach implied that state District Judge Suzanne Wooten, who defeated an incumbent in 2008, played some role because his office is investigating her. But Wooten's attorney, Peter A. Schulte, denied any involvement.
