A Southwest Airlines flight was delayed in Albuquerque so authorities could inspect the plane for a suspicious item Monday evening.
In a statement, an airline spokesperson said pilots guided Flight 2753, scheduled from Albuquerque to Denver, to a remote part of the Albuquerque International Sunport so police could check the plane.
Passengers will be re-screened as part of the process, according to the Southwest spokesperson.
Additional details about the suspicious item were not disclosed. The plane eventually landed in Denver four hours later than scheduled.
A statement from the Dallas-based airline read, in part, "We appreciate their [the customers'] patience as our employees work with the appropriate authorities. Southwest’s highest priority is the safety and security of our customers and employees. To respect the integrity of the investigation, we do not have any additional details to share at this time."
