Southlake Police Officer's Gun, Badge Stolen from Vehicle

A Southlake police officer reported his patrol rifle, ballistic vest and badge were stolen while off duty last week in Fort Worth, department officials said Tuesday.

The officer's personal vehicle was burglarized while parked in his driveway Friday evening, according to a statement from Southlake Police Chief James Brandon.

"The Southlake Police Department requires that all weapons and police equipment be secured at all times," the statement read.

The department is conducting an internal investigation, and additional details were not disclosed.
