South Texas Bridge Reopens After Barge Crash

A bridge in South Texas has reopened following a temporary closure after it was struck by a barge.

The Texas Department of Transportation said Thursday that the incident happened at the Dale Miller Bridge in Aransas Pass.

The route between Aransas Pass and the Port Aransas ferry landing was closed Thursday afternoon. The bridge was reopened by early Thursday evening.

A U.S. Coast Guard spokesman says the barge named Captain Smoke was trying to cross under the bridge.

It's unclear what caused the crash. No injuries were reported.
