Some Flights Delayed at Love Field Sunday Due to Power Outage

A planned power outage at Dallas Love Field led to an unexpected loss of electricity for about two hours and some flight delays until the system was restored.

Airport spokesman Justin Snasel said power was restored Sunday morning at city-owned Love Field.

Snasel said the scheduled overnight outage was to install equipment and add redundancy and future capacity. He said crews had trouble rebooting some critical equipment.

In a series of tweets about the issue Sunday morning, Love Field officials asked for patience while the systems were brought back online and that safety and security would not be compromised.

An official with Dallas-based Southwest Airlines said about two dozen flights were affected at the carrier's main hub. Chris Mainz said flights were operating on time after power issues were resolved by about 6 a.m. Sunday.
