Some Austin Jail Inmates to Learn Beekeeping

There's a certain buzz about job training available for some inmates jailed in Central Texas.

Officials with the American Honey Bee Protection Agency on Monday are scheduled to set 10 beehives inside the Travis County Correctional Complex.

Backers say the beekeeping project is meant to provide inmates with a marketable skill for when they are released.

The Travis County Sheriff's Office in Austin is cooperating with the educational training program.

The American Honey Bee Protection Agency, on its website, says the nonprofit group is dedicated to saving honeybees and educating the public about the insects.
