Schiller killed by small arms fire in Kandahar province

The Department of Defense said Friday that 21-year-old Spc. Philip C. S. Schiller, of The Colony, died April 11 supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Schiller was in Kandahar province when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire.

On his Facebook page, Schiller listed himself as married.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.
