Soldier Surprises 5-Year-Old Daughter at School

Blackhawk pilot home for three weeks of rest and relaxation

A 5-year-old Flower Mound girl got a big surprise at school that was nine months in the making.

Jared Tynes, who is on three weeks of rest and relaxation from his U.S. Army unit stationed in South Korea, showed up at Merryhill School on Friday morning to surprise his daughter, Hailey.

Tynes, a Blackhawk helicopter pilot, said he is glad to be home.

“It really is an adjustment getting back into it, a family-style setting,” he said.

But he said he’s enjoying every minute he has with Hailey, her almost 1-year-old sister, Abby, and their mother, Kim.

He will say goodbye again in three weeks when he leaves for his final three months in South Korea.

When he returns, the family will move to Savannah, Ga., where Tynes will stationed at Hunter Army Airfield.
