Snow in Lubbock Cancels School, Makes Travel Hazardous

Thousands of students in West Texas have a day off due to cold, snowy conditions.

The Lubbock Independent School District and Texas Tech University canceled classes Friday due to winter weather.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the area until midday Friday.

Meteorologist Jason Jordan says Lubbock received nearly 4 inches of snow since Thursday, with temperatures in the teens by early Friday. Jordan says a cold system with moisture was generating a lot of snow.

Lubbock police had no reports of traffic problems or anyone hurt Friday due to weather.
