Small Plane Crashes in Field Near Hicks Airfield

A small plane crashed in an open field in Tarrant County on Monday night, authorities said.

Investigators said the pilot was forced to land the antique bi-plane near the 2900 block of Tinsley Lane, just northwest of Hicks Airfield after apparently running out of gas.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash, which was called in at about 8:40 p.m.

FAA spokesman Lynn Lunsford said the pilot had minor injuries. The other person on board was not injured.

Lynn said the pilot reported that the engine stalled and believed it was because the Beechcraft Staggerwing was out of fuel.
