It only took firefighters five minutes to control the blaze.

Two workers escaped a fire at a manufacturing business in Mesquite on Saturday morning.

An explosion happened around 7:00 a.m. inside the Research and Development Lab of Fritz Industries at  2900 Executive Drive in Mesquite.

Mesquite Fire Capt. Jeff Miller told NBC DFW that firefighters fought a small fire from the outside of the building. The lab was closed at time of the fire.

In a statement from Fritz Industries, David Margulies said the two workers inside the building at the time of the fire were members of a cleaning crew. They both escaped unharmed.

Margulies also said the damage was confined to the lab area.

Editor's Note: The original version of this report stated that fertilizer was at the location, Fritz Industries does not make or store fertilizer at this location.
