A small earthquake has been detected about 45 miles southeast of San Antonio.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 3 quake shook an area near Karnes City about 6:48 a.m. CST Saturday. The epicenter was in Falls City, about seven miles northwest of Karnes City. No damage has been reported.

A quake of magnitude 2.5 to 3 is the smallest generally felt by people. The area of Saturday's quake is not immune to temblors. In November, a 3.3 magnitude quake was detected in the region.  A magnitude 4.8 quake struck in October.

Texas' largest recorded quake was measured in 1931at  5.8 magnitude near Valentine in far West Texas.
