Skyline Standout Set to Play in His Second Super Bowl

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Mike Morgan, a former high school football standout at Skyline in Dallas, is set to appear in his second Super Bowl.

His brother, Steven Morgan, leaves Saturday for Arizona to watch his brother play in the big game.

"I am super excited to be going,” said Steven Morgan.

Steven Morgan said his brother is excited, loose and ready for Sunday's game.

It is a special relationship between brothers. Mike Morgan was a star athlete at Skyline High School and graduated in 2006. Steven had already finished his college playing career by then and was back teaching in the Dallas Independent School District.

As an added bonus, Steven Morgan was also a defensive line coach for his younger brother.

“Michael in high school was such a humble kid. It was a blessing for me just to be there and watch him,” said Steven Morgan.

Mike Morgan went on to play at the University of Southern California, before becoming a Seattle Seahawk. This year, he had a memorable game against the Dallas Cowboys when he returned a blocked punt for a touchdown.

Steven Morgan has been with DISD now for more than 10 years, and is a popular, smiling fifth grade teacher at Gill Elementary School.

After the Seahawks won the Super Bowl last year, Mike Morgan stopped by his brother's school and visited with the students.

“He gave them awesome words of wisdom about continuing their education and never giving up on their dreams,” said Steven Morgan.

Several family members are attending the Super Bowl, including the brothers' parents and grandmother.

“Our parents have just been so inspirational to us,” said Steven Morgan.

He said there is one way to best describe his brother.

“The most important thing to him, I would have to say, is faith and then family and then football,” said Steven Morgan.
