Silver Alert Issued for Missing Arlington Woman

The search continues Friday for an Arlington woman who went missing earlier in the week.

Arlington police issued a Silver Alert on Tuesday for 77-year-old Maria Arrocha. Arrocha is showing early signs of Alzheimer's Disease and was last seen at about 9 a.m. at her daughter's home, where Arrocha lives, on Arbor Lane, near the intersection of New York Avenue and Park Row Drive.

On Friday, officers continued to distribute flyers with the woman's photograph while reaching out to hospitals, businesses and other organizations who may have information about the missing woman.

The family is also distributing a flyer in both English and Spanish that makes mention of a $1,000 reward for information leading to her location.

Arrocha has not been able to take needed medication since she left her home and family fear that she's confused, disoriented and afraid.

"It's been a nightmare actually. I just try to pinch myself to see if this is really happening. The weather is starting to get cold and the holidays are coming and this is something that families shouldn't have to go through," said Melissa Gutierrez, Arrocha's granddaughter.

People living in the area are encouraged to search around their homes, including back yards, garages and sheds.

Arlington police say they have deployed extra officers in the area in search for Arrocha. Specialized K-9 units to track Arrocha's scent and a helicopter team from the City of Fort Worth are also searching.

"She could be anywhere at this point and it's very alarming to us that we don't have a credible sighting in the last 48 hours," said Sgt. Christopher Cook with the Arlington Police Department.

"We just want to hear some good news sooner rather than later because every hour, every minute that passes is of essence," said Gutierrez.

Arrocha is Hispanic, stands about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs approximately 180 lbs. She has black and grey hair and brown eyes.

If you have seen her, please contact Arlington police by calling 911 or 817-459-5600.

Editor's Note: The Arlington police initially said Arrocha was 82 years old.  They now say the missing woman is 77.
