Shoppers Urged to Pay Attention

A Dallas woman wants to warn other shoppers, after her purse was stolen in a supermarket parking lot.

Jody Lyke left her purse in her unlocked car while she returned her shopping cart at the Tom Thumb on Mockingbird and Abrams on Sunday around 11:30 a.m.

In a matter of seconds, a man snatched the purse out of her car.

"It's very distressing to know that you are that vulnerable and to know that you are being watched that closely," said Lyke.

It was the second supermarket purse snatching Dallas Police responded to Sunday, although the crooks were unsuccessful in their first attempt.

Police say crooks tried to steal a woman’s purse at the Tom Thumb on Lovers and Greenville, before Lyke’s purse was stolen, a few miles away.

"I will be more careful and I hope people will be more careful," said Lyke.

Police believe it may be the same suspects working both grocery store parking lots.

Investigators are looking for an early 2000 model, champagne-colored SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Trailblazer.
