The Texas Rangers are investigating a man's death after a deputy sheriff shot him with a stun gun.
Atascosa County Sheriff David Soward said a deputy tried to pull over 54-year-old Marcario Garcia for an unspecified traffic violation on Monday. He said Garcia kept driving and stopped in a driveway.
According to Soward, Garcia refused to comply with commands from a deputy identified as D. Kaufman. He said Garcia swung at Kaufman, who shot Garcia with a Taser.
Garcia was then handcuffed and Soward says he collapsed a few minutes later. He died at an area hospital.
Garcia's family members told KSAT-TV the deputy used the Taser twice and that Garcia had congestive heart failure.
Soward says it appears Kaufman acted within the law and department policy.
