Serial Burglary Suspect Arrested Near San Antonio: Police

Police say officers in Live Oak have arrested a man they believe is responsible for a rash of smash and grab burglaries in at least seven North Texas cities.

Southlake police say 40-year-old Carlos J. Ramos was arrested on March 30 for burglary of vehicle and credit/debit card abuse after a traffic stop in Live Oak, Texas.

On April 9, detectives from Southlake, Flower Mound and Waco went to the Bexar County Jail to interview Ramos.

Southlake police say thanks to the detectives' work they've cleared seven cases in Southlake, seven cases in Flower Mound and at least three cases in Waco as well as similar cases in Grapevine, Euless, Arlington, Plano and Highland Village.

In February, Southlake police released a surveillance photos from a retail outlet immediately after a smash and grab.

Women were the targets. Police said the man would watch them go into the gym, and then look into their cars to see if there are any purses and bags in view, then he smashed in the window and grabbed the bags.

Police said the man worked fast; using the stolen credit cards before the victims even knew they were missing. By the time they canceled them, the damage was done.

Police remind everyone to never leave valuables in plain sight.
