Security Increased at The Colony High School Following Threat

Police, school officials identify suspect(s) who made threat, school official says

The principal at The Colony High School says precautionary security measures are in place Monday after a threat was made against the school late Sunday night.

In a message sent to parents, Principal Tim Baxter said police and school officials received information about threats made against the school.

Baxter said suspects were identified and had been the subject of an investigation -- but he didn't reveal the names of those suspects.

"I appreciate the quick action taken by the police and the Lewisville ISD safety and security team to keep our students and staff safe once reports of the threats surfaced," Baxter wrote.

In a second note sent Monday morning, Baxter said investigators had "made contact" with the suspects and that the investigation into the threat was ongoing.

Baxter did not detail the nature of the threats or say if any specific student or faculty member had been targeted.

"Because this is an ongoing police investigation of a situation that happened off campus, we are limited in the information that is available to us and that we can share with parents," Baxter wrote. "But I want to assure you the safety and security of our students is always at the forefront of our decision-making process."

Baxter said students and parents would see an increased police presence on and near campus Monday.
