Search for Murder Suspect Locks Down 2 Dallas Schools

Police clear both schools to reopen

Two schools in the Dallas Independent School District were locked down Thursday due to police activity in the area.

Fred F. Florence Middle School and John W. Runyon Elementary School were both on lock down briefly while police searched a nearby neighborhood for an unnamed murder suspect.

Just after 4 p.m., the Dallas police said a person was taken into custody at a home on the 1500 block of Cheyenne Road.

The home is across the street from the elementary school and just a few blocks from the middle school.

After the arrest, both schools were cleared to reopen.

Further details about the murder suspect were not immediately available.
