School, Community Donate Van to Family in The Colony

During a Friday morning pep rally the Colony High School as well as several local businesses and community members donated a custom Dodge Rear-Entry van to the family of Brian Bravo.

Bravo was paralyzed in a 2005 car crash coming back from a family vacation. His mother, sister, and uncle all died in the accident and his younger brother was injured.

Bravo is still unable to speak or move much, but using what little communication he can he’s become a rallying point for his classmates; especially the boys basketball team who refers to him as Coach Brian.

The team has been working with the community and the rest of the Lewisville School District all year to get the van for the family and start a trust fund to help with Brian’s expenses past graduation.

Brian’s father Jose personally thanked the crowd of hundreds on Friday as, in what his classmates say is his way of showing excitement, raised his left leg and let out a smile.
