San Antonio Officer Fatally Shoots Robbery Suspect

A San Antonio police officer has fatally shot a robbery suspect during a struggle.

San Antonio police Chief William McManus says the officer has been placed on administrative duty following Sunday night's incident.

Police didn't immediately release the name of the man fatally shot by the officer, who suffered minor injuries when he was hit by a vehicle the suspect tried to steal. The officer managed to reach the fleeing man, the pair struggled and the officer shot the suspect.

McManus says police believe the suspect committed two armed robberies and a theft Sunday afternoon. Police on Sunday night located a car matching the description of one used in the crimes, leading to a chase and wrong-way crashes before the suspect tried to carjack another vehicle and flee.
