SUV Crashes Into Fort Worth Church

Fort Worth firefighters were called to a church late Wednesday morning after the driver of an sports utility vehicle crashed into the building.

Officials with the Fort Worth Fire Department said the driver suffered a seizure and lost control of the vehicle before crashing into Cambodia Baptist Church on the 3400 block of McCart Avenue.

The church’s pastor, Chhoeun Chhorn said things could have been much worse and that some of the congregation had been sleeping at the church following a recent string of thefts.

Chhorn said that normally, during the early afternoon hours, a caretaker would be sleeping in the area of the church where the SUV crashed.

“I'm so happy that he's alive and I can tell everyone he's alive because everyone is concerned about him,” Chhorn told NBC 5.

The Pastor said the caretaker had a craving for a donut and left just minutes before the crash.

Chhorn said the financial cost of repairs and cleanup will be high, but says the church is insured.

The pastor expects weekend services to happen as scheduled.
