Run for the Blue 5K/1K Benefits Dallas Officers, Families

A 5K and 1K run/walk Thursday supports the officers and officers' families who were killed or injured in the July 7 ambush shooting in downtown Dallas.

The Run for the Blue goes from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Ronald Kirk Pedestrian Bridge, formerly the Continental Avenue Bridge, and race entry is free.

The Dallas Chapter of the National Latino Law Enforcement Organization  organized the event. They are collecting donations, and 100 percent of the money will be distributed through the group's Signal 15 fund.

Registration began at 5 p.m. at 3011 Gulden Lane, on the Trinity Groves side of the bridge.
