Round Rock Police Seize $1.5M in Meth During Traffic Stop

Police in Round Rock said they have seized $1.5 million worth of methamphetamine that was hidden in a vehicle's gas tank.

Local media outlets reported that Round Rock police announced the seizure Wednesday. An arrest affidavit states an officer pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 35 Monday after a registration check showed it was uninsured. Police said the driver did not have a driver's license.

Authorities said the driver consented to a search of the vehicle and a police dog detected the odor of drugs in the car. The arrest affidavit states officers found 15 plastic containers holding 35.6 pounds of methamphetamine in the gas tank.

The suspect was arrested and is being held in the Williamson County Jail on $350,000 bail.
