Romance in Frisco's Air

Amazon.com ranks suburb among nation’s most romantic

Much more of this, and the minor league baseball team will be renamed the Frisco LoveRiders.

Amazon.com just released its list of the top 20 most romantic cities in America and, excuse me while I scrape my jaw off the floor, Frisco, Texas, ranks No. 20 in all the land.

Apparently cookie-cutter strip malls, McMansions, and chain restaurants spark romance. Interesting.

The online retailer weighed factors such as sales data on romance novels and relationship books, romantic comedy movies, sexual-wellness products — probably best not to ask — and Barry White albums because there is no music more romantic than Barry White’s, ahem, to determine the rankings.

Alexandra, Va., the spiritual home of Pepe Le Pew, came out on top for the second year running, and Round Rock, Texas, also made the list at No. 12, so evidently suburbs, even the big ones, are more romantic than the major municipalities they surround.

Anyway, it looks like determining the most romantic cities is a lot like romance itself. You spend your money and take your chances.
