Riders Hit The Trail in Support of Tarrant County Sheriff's Posse

The Tarrant County Sheriff's Posse hosted its second annual Trinity Trail Ride this past weekend in the Fort Worth Stockyards.

Once they got off the trail, which took them along the banks of the Trinity River, riders were treated to a chuck wagon lunch with entertainment provided by the Cowtown Opry.

The fundraiser helps the posse maintain and preserve western heritage by educating the public, school children and other civic and charitable organizations.

The website for the Tarrant County Sheriff's Posse says the posse is an equestrian riding club affiliated with the Sheriff’s Office. Founded in 1958 by Sheriff Harlan Wright, the posse represents the Sheriff’s Office at ceremonial events, parades and community functions.

Volunteers make up the “Good Will Ambassadors” of the Sheriff’s Office. They help continue the western heritage of the Texas sheriff, especially in Tarrant County, which is known as the place “where the West begins.”

Thank you, Sgt. Robert Bridges for the sharing the video and the story.
