Velma Adams says she was trapped in her apartment by a fire at a Dallas apartment building.

Resident Velma Adams told NBC 5 she could not exit her apartment through the front door as fire was right outside.

"I went out the patio door, put a box up to the fence, and jumped over it," Adams said. "That's how I got out."

Residents of second story apartments were able to be removed.

    No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
