Rescuers with several agencies are searching for a kayaker who went missing near Galveston on Sunday afternoon.
A man kayaking about a half mile off the Galveston Island west seawall was reported missing at 1 p.m., according to a Coast Guard news release.
Galveston police, a Coast Guard helicopter aircrew and Galveston Island Beach Patrol are involved in the search.
Witnesses who saw the kayaker before he went missing reported that he was wearing a life jacket, the Coast Guard said.
