One person is dead and another is injured following a stabbing that lead to an officer-involved shooting Friday morning in Dallas.

Dallas police said an employee of Wells Wrecking, which is located just one block away from the headquarters of the Dallas Police Department, was being attacked and stabbed by a man.

An off-duty officer, Sgt. Jackie Moore, was headed to work when she heard the victim's screams and went to investigate.

Police said Moore fatally shot the man, later identified as 26-year-old Codi Ben Bullard, when he ignored her orders to drop the knife.

Employees of the business told police Bullard was angry and pulled a knife when they told him to leave.  Bullard then began stabbing one of the employees with whom he'd been arguing, police said.

The stabbing victim was transported to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas in an unknown condition, though police said they are optimistic the victim will recover.
