Certain repeat sex offenders would get life in prison without parole under legislation passed by the Texas House.

The bill was approved unanimously Wednesday. It would require life without parole for people with a second conviction for serious sex crimes, such as sex with a child under six years old or when weapons are used in certain sex crimes.

The legislation faces one more procedural hurdle before moving to the Texas Senate.
