Renovations Planned for Dealey Plaza

Improved sidewalks, landscaping to be in place by 2013

Dallas is finalizing plans for the next phase of renovations to the historic Dealey Plaza.

The city will add sidewalks and improve the landscape around the location of the Kennedy Assassination.

Officials say the work will cost $1.5 million in total, though the city will get significant help from a fund hosted by The Dallas Foundation. Funds for the restoration are being collected into the Deleay Plaza Renovation Project Fund at that site.

Construction is set to begin next fall and should be open in time to mark the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's Assassination in 2013.
