Remains Found in Western Ohio Sent to Texas for Analysis

Human skeletal remains found near Grand Lake St. Marys in western Ohio have been sent to Texas for analysis after initial testing on DNA evidence yielded only a partial profile.

WDTN-TV reports Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said the state Bureau of Investigation was able to get a partial profile, but wasn't able to identify the victim.

The remains have been sent to the University of North Texas for further inspection. It could take about six months to get the results of the tests.

Authorities say they believe the victim to be a man between 20 and 35 years old. A homicide investigation has been opened into the case.

A hiker found the remains Jan. 3 near Grand Lake St. Marys in the city of Celina.
