The Tarrant County Sheriff's Department is investigating remains found Thursday that appear to be human.
Officers were called to a field near the 5400-block of Crest Drive in far northwest Tarrant County Thursday afternoon after a woman told 911 operators she had discovered the decomposing remains of a body.
Investigators, who combed the area until midnight, said several other items were recovered near the remains that may be related to the case.
The remains were transported to the medical examiner's office for identification and cause of death.
The investigation into the remains is ongoing.
