Reaction to Terrorist Attacks in London

The London Bridge will remain closed for the night, according to Metropolitan Police.

Reaction to the terrorist attacks has been swift around the world, including in the United States.

The U.S. State Department condemning what the department calls โ€˜the cowardly attacks targeting innocent civilians in London.โ€™

The department added the United States stands ready to provide any assistance authorities in the United Kingdom may request.

There were many witnesses to the attacks near the bridge and the market.

โ€œ"I saw people running, screaming, somebody was injured,โ€ said security officer Faith Buscemi, โ€œI see people with some blood. It's been like the worst 30 minutes in my life, honestly.โ€

It is still not known if any Americans were wounded or killed in the attacks.

The U.S. Embassy in London has issues an emergency alert urging Americans in London to avoid areas of the attacks and to notify their families that they are safe.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott released a statement Saturday night, saying in part:

โ€œAs a nation, we must continue to do everything we can to root out and defeat terrorists who aim to destroy our values and freedom and democracy. Texas offers its condolences and full support to those affected by this tragedy.โ€
