Longtime loyalists and Mavs front-running fans just now jumping on the bandwagon have a new rallying cry to motivate Mavs Nation.

A Fort Worth singer, musician, rapper named Kayo Starr just released a song called “Mavs on a Mission” to fire up the crowd as the Mavericks look to close out the Western Conference Finals and move on to the NBA championship round.

The song pays homage to the entire team, player by player, throughout the lineup. At least I think it does. I listened to almost half of it.

Not bad, really, but the backbeat does become a little repetitious. Honestly, repetition and all, I like this one better. Of course, I like hockey a lot more than I do basketball.

Anyway, after last night’s come-from-15-down-with-five-minutes-left-in-regulation overtime win it looks like that mission might just be divine.

At the risk of sounding like a front-runner: Go Mavs.
