Rain Forces Changes to McKinney Christmas Festival

The rainy weather forced organizers of this year's "A McKinney Christmas" festival to make major changes Sunday.

The outdoor activities in Historic Downtown McKinney were canceled Sunday. Workers spent Sunday morning removing tents, barrels and displays.

However, the shops, restaurants and indoor displays opened as planned Sunday, with organizers insisting they were not going to let the rain ruin the holiday tradition.

The lighting of a 30-foot tree is scheduled for Monday night, and the city plans on having several other events leading up to Christmas.
