Purse Snatching Cases in Arlington, Grand Prairie May Be Linked

The Arlington Police Department says two men believed to be targeting Asian women in a series of purse snatchings in Grand Prairie may be linked to a dozen cases in East Arlington.

Arlington detectives said that over the past month the thieves typically target areas where predominantly Asian businesses are located in order to steal a woman's purse.

"In some Arlington cases, the suspects actually steal the purses from a female's hands or arms as they are walking in the parking lot while other cases involve the theft of purses from the passenger seats of vehicles," police said in a statement.

The most recent incident occurred Tuesday, Oct. 3 in the 2400 block of E. Pioneer Parkway where a man was recorded on surveillance video exiting a vehicle, quickly opening the door of another car and then grabbing the woman's purse.

The man then quickly left the area in his vehicle, which police said may be a white Chevrolet Impala.

Arlington police said the men haven't shown any weapons in the robberies. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Trinh at 817-459-5805. To submit an anonymous tip, please contact Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS (8477).
