Independence Day is the time of year when Texans break out their wallets in the name of patriotism. Fireworks, hotdogs, and Blue Bell ice cream are all part of the normal expenses.
But the roughly $200 the average family spends is all temporary. Sure, the food is great, but it is either devoured or divided off into Tupperware containers -- Tupperware containers that you’ll probably never get back.
The fireworks, though great to look at, blow up in the sky, never to be seen again. Hopefully.
Isn’t there anything lasting you can spend your money on while still being patriotic? Yes.
Now through July 8, Texans can enjoy USA license plates for free with the purchase of an initial set of plates through My Plates.
When you make your initial purchase through their website, check the box for to get a redemption code for a free USA Flag plate. The code will be sent via e-mail after your initial purchase.
The redemption codes are transferable, so you can give it to a family member or friend to cover the cost of a standard USA Flag plate (a $55 value).
Personalized plates are normally $85, and with the redemption code you would only pay the difference of $30.
The plates are good for one year and are legitimate Texas license plates.
