Fairy Godmother of Proms Has New Digs

An Austin-area woman who provides prom clothing to girls who otherwise might not get fancy dresses has a new place to keep the finery.

The Fairy Godmother Foundation in Round Rock has been struggling to find space to store its more than 800 gowns since founder Keri Byer recently moved. Byer previously used a guest house near her home to store the dresses.

For $25, young ladies can rent the prom gowns, makeup, photos and other donated items.

Byer, who held a prom fair last weekend, was still trying to come up with a place to store the dresses when a landlord offered her a large space for about $600 per month.

Byer said she will pay the cost through rental fees and sponsorships.

Byer's next prom fair is set for Saturday.
