A woman was shot and killed in front of her children in a murder and attempted-suicide in Lewisville on Thanksgiving, police said. The man accused of shooting her remains hospitalized in critical condition as of 9:30 a.m. Friday, police said.
It happened about noon Thursday at an apartment building in the 100 block of E. Round Grove Road.
Daryl Stegall, 32, kicked in Kishana Jeffers' front door, pulled out a gun and shot her in front of her children, according to Lewisville police.
Stegall then ran out the door and shot himself in the breezeway.
Jeffers, 30, died at the scene. Stegall remains in the hospital.
The children, a 7-year-old girl, 9-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, are safe. They were receiving counseling and are staying with family members.
