Surveillance Video Shows Truck Running Over Woman

76-year-old purse-snatching victim now on life support

Police on Friday released surveillance video of a 76-year-old woman being run over during a drive-by purse-snatching.

A driver in a pickup truck ran over Sabra Leavy in the parking lot of a North Dallas Walmart on Wednesday afternoon.

The store's surveillance video shows the driver of the black Ford pickup luring Leavy to his window, snatching her purse and then taking off.

Leavy was dragged 40 feet and then run over by the truck's back tire.

“This is a person’s life that's been changed forever, for a purse with nothing in it of value," said Leavy’s daughter, Linda Hazuouri.

Leavy is on life support after surgery Friday to piece together her shattered pelvis didn't go as planned.

”Hopefully she’s strong enough and it will turn around,” Hazuouri said. “But right now, it doesn't look really good.”

The weight of the truck crushed Leavy's frail, 97-pound frame. Her daughter said the active 76-year-old loves to knit and dance the cha-cha now can't walk or talk.

“All I want is the people that did this to be caught so they don't do it to anyone again,” Hazuouri said.

The truck is described as a dark-colored, late '90s or early 2000s Ford pickup model with an extended cab.

Anyone with information in the case is urged to call police.
